How old do you have to be to ride a scooter in Vietnam?

Okay, so you wanna know how old you gotta be to ride a scooter in Vietnam? Well, get this... the legal age is sixteen!

Sixteen! Seriously? My first thought was, "Are you kidding me?" Honestly, that just feels... insanely young to be navigating Vietnamese traffic. I mean, have you seen it? It's like a chaotic ballet of buses, bikes, and the occasional chicken. It's kinda beautiful, actually, in its own crazy way, but beautiful and dangerous.

I remember being in Hanoi, just trying to cross the street, and it felt like playing Frogger in real life. I was gripping my friend's arm so tight, I probably cut off his circulation, and I was a fully grown adult!

So, yeah, imagining a sixteen-year-old, maybe still figuring out parallel parking back home, suddenly thrown into that mix? It just seems… well, a recipe for disaster. No offense to sixteen-year-olds, of course. I'm sure plenty are responsible. But sixteen?

I really think the minimum age should be higher, maybe eighteen, minimum. Give people a little more time to, you know, develop some common sense and a better understanding of risk.
