Sunburnt. My Tho. August 2023. Ugh. Should’ve listened about that midday sun. Decided to rent a motorbike in Da Nang after that. So much easier. Zipped around, saw the Marble Mountains, beaches. Freedom! Crazy traffic though. Beep beep! Nearly got sideswiped a couple of times. Worth it.

Taxi in Da Nang? Used Grab. Like Uber, but Southeast Asia. Air-conditioned bliss. Cheap too. Driver took me to this amazing Banh Xeo place. Crispy crepe, so good. Definitely recommend Grab. Especially when it’s scorching.

• Motorbike: Best for exploring. Wind in your hair. But watch the traffic. Seriously.
• Grab: Easy. Convenient. Air conditioning. Perfect for hot days.
• Taxi: Similar to Grab. Plenty available.
• Bus: Saw the local buses. Didn’t try them. Looked crowded. Probably cheap though.
• Walking: Good for short distances. Not in that heat!
• Cyclo: Touristy. Saw a few. Didn’t ride one. Looked fun though.

My Tho was before Da Nang. Different vibe. Mekong Delta. Boats. Floating markets. Remember that sunburn. Ouch. Back to Da Nang. Loved the beaches. My Khe. Non Nuoc. Clean, white sand. Water was warm. Perfect for swimming. Wish I could go back. Soon.

Food in Da Nang. Amazing. Street food. Seafood. Banh Xeo. Mi Quang. So cheap. Ate like a king. Every day. Gained a few pounds. Worth it. Absolutely worth it.

• GrabMart: Like a mini-mart in your phone. Need toothpaste at 2 AM? GrabMart’s got you covered.
• GrabExpress: Need something delivered pronto? GrabExpress is your speed demon. I sent my grandma a birthday cake through them. Arrived in perfect condition. She was happy. I was the favorite grandchild… again.

• Mid-range: $70/day (decent hotel, restaurant meals, Grab rides). My friend, he splurged on a cooking class. Worth it.
• Luxury: $100+/day (5-star resorts, fine dining, private car). Saw a guy land a helicopter on a yacht. Da Nang’s got it all.

Prices jump during Tet. Book flights, accommodation early. Visa, check the latest rules. I went in ’23, no visa needed (US passport).
