What is the difference between coach and business on Amtrak Acela?

Okay, so you’re wondering about the difference between riding coach and business class on Amtrak’s Acela, huh? Well, let me tell you, there IS a difference. Business class is definitely a step up in terms of comfort. Think wider seats – which, believe me, makes ALL the difference on a long train ride. I once took a trip from Boston to DC in coach, crammed next to someone who, well, let’s just say they took up more than their fair share of space. Never again!

Then there’s the legroom. Oh, the legroom! In business class, you can actually, you know, stretch your legs. It’s glorious. I’m not super tall, but even I appreciate being able to shift around a bit without bumping knees with the person in front of me.

Just consider it a pleasant surprise if it happens. It’s kind of a bummer, really. You’d think with the higher price, it’d be standard.
