• Food: Street food in Krabi is ridiculously cheap and delicious. Pad See Ew for a dollar. Bangkok has its street eats, but competition drives prices up. Even fancy restaurants in Krabi offer better value. Had an unforgettable seafood feast for under $20.
• Transportation: Songthaews (red trucks) rule Krabi’s roads. Short hops are pennies. Tuk-tuks in Bangkok, always a haggle. My motorbike rental in Krabi? $5 a day. Freedom. Navigating Bangkok’s traffic is…an experience.
• Activities: Island hopping, rock climbing, kayaking. Krabi’s natural beauty keeps costs down. Bangkok’s attractions tend towards the pricey. Though the Grand Palace was pretty majestic. Cost me about $15 in 2024.

Krabi offers a higher value proposition. The trade-off? Less urban excitement. Less frenetic energy. More chill. Sometimes, less is more. Ironic, eh? Remember that time I found a secluded beach in Krabi and just watched the sunset? Bliss. Bangkok’s dazzling, but it’s a different kind of bliss. Cost vs. experience… a constant traveler’s dilemma.

How many days should I spend in Ao Nang?

Ao Nang, hmm. Two days? Maybe three, tops. IF the sun’s shining! Ugh, rain ruins everything, right? I want sunshine!

Island hopping is a must though. That needs a whole day. Need good pics for Insta, duh. Which islands though? Hong Island? Chicken Island? So many choices.

Oh, and Tiger Cave Temple. Seriously, those steps… But the view, the view is worth it. Maybe, haha. I’ll need to be motivated.

And Phi Phi Don! Gotta stay there, like, two nights at least? It’s a different vibe. Party vibe? Or chill vibe? I can’t remember. Maybe both?

• Island hopping: 1 day (at least)
• Tiger Cave Temple: Half a day.
• Phi Phi Don: 2 nights. Seriously.

Phuket? Overrated, tbh.

Krabi. Cheap enough. Seventy-one dollars a day. Not bad. Middle of the road in Asia. Like Datong. Wuyuan too. Money matters less than experience. Or does it? Top 50%. Arbitrary metrics. Still, went there last May. Spent more. Rock climbing. Railay Beach. Worth it. Memories aren’t priced. Except maybe the photos. Those cost money. Cloud storage.

• Mid-range for Asian travel. Cheaper than Tokyo. More than Hanoi.
• Comparable to Datong, Wuyuan. Different vibes entirely.
• Rock climbing is extra. So are longtails to hidden beaches.
• Food is cheap. Unless you insist on westernized options. Pad See Ew for $2. Delicious.
• Accommodation varies. Hostels to five-star resorts. Chose a bungalow. Mosquitos.
• Alcohol can add up. Chang is life. Moderation? What’s that.

Is Krabi nicer than Phuket?

How many nights should I spend in Bangkok?

Three nights felt rushed, man. Seriously. I was there in July 2024, scorching hot. Sweat dripping even inside air-conditioned places. My temples ached.

I crammed in way too much. Temples, markets, street food – amazing, but exhausting. I only saw a fraction of what Bangkok offers.

Five days would’ve been better, absolutely. A more relaxed pace. More time for those rooftop bars. More time to just be.

• Temple hopping: Wat Arun, Wat Pho – stunning, but the heat was brutal.
• Markets: Chatuchak, oh my god, Chatuchak is a whole other world. I barely scratched the surface.
• Food: Pad Thai, mango sticky rice, boat noodles – heavenly, but I ate too fast. I need more time for food!
• River cruise: So relaxing, good way to see different sides of the city.
• Rooftop bars: Stunning views, a little pricey, but worth it for the experience. I wanted to linger longer in these.

Four days is cutting it close. Five days is ideal. Maybe even six if you’re not rushing like a lunatic, like I did. You’ll need time to recover from the sheer awesome-ness of Bangkok. Seriously.
